How SunSide handles location and saved settings.

Updated October 13, 2026.

Solar calculations run in your browser. Public building tiles load automatically from Overture’s S3 archive when the selected location changes. Tile requests reveal the surrounding map area and your network request to that host. No coordinate search query is sent. Building records are cached in memory and not included in saved settings. You can use preset coordinates or enter coordinates manually. Browser geolocation is requested only when you press “Use my location”; your browser controls permission. SunSide does not send those coordinates to a geocoder or solar calculation server. If you choose to load climate averages, rounded regional coordinates and your network request are sent to NASA POWER. Precise entered coordinates are not included in that request. NASA may process request logs under its own policies. Climate data is cached only in memory for this session. Cloud forecast buttons send coordinates rounded to 0.01 degrees to ECCC GeoMet and MET Norway. MET Norway forecast data is reused until its published expiry, and includes your site Origin for provider identification. For North American coordinates, NWS is also contacted to check US forecast coverage. An optional regional ensemble requests up to 21 members. Providers receive your network request and may log it. Cloud results and capabilities are held in memory, not saved with your settings. No cloud request runs automatically as you move the time slider.

“Save in this browser” stores your configuration, including coordinates, in local storage on the device. “Delete & reset” removes that saved record. Saved settings are not automatically loaded. No accounts, advertising, analytics or affiliate tracking are installed.

Cloudflare and GitHub provide hosting and may process routine network request information such as IP addresses and browser details under their own policies. External reference links lead to sites with separate policies. This notice will be updated before additional data collection is introduced.
